Privacy policy

Last updated 21 October 2026. This policy is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the IT Rules, 2021.

What we collect

• Account: your email address, used to sign in with a one-time code.
• Profile: the details you choose to add — name, gender, date of birth, height, religion, community, mother tongue, location, education, work, family details, photos, partner preferences and Know Yourself answers.
• Verification: a selfie, a photo of one government ID and its number. For Aadhaar we keep only the last four digits. ID numbers are encrypted. These are seen only by our verification team and never shown to other members.
• Voice and video you choose to add: a voice namaste and a 30-second video short on your profile, and voice notes you send in chat.
• Optional sensitive details: income range and family income (you choose who sees income: everyone, mutual matches only, or no one), and health details such as blood group, disability, thalassemia and HIV status (shown only to members you have a mutual match with). Leave these blank if you prefer.
• Activity: interests, Super Interests, saved profiles, profile views, messages, reactions, games and daily-question answers, in-app notifications, reports and blocks, online status, and device push-notification tokens.

Inviting friends uses your phone's share sheet; we never read your contacts. The AI practice partner is clearly labelled AI, is not a member, and its conversations are not stored.

Bandhan Saathi suggestions

The onboarding assistant, "Write my bio", conversation openers, "Help me reply", "Why you may connect", the profile coach, search by description, funny lines, voice-note ideas and the AI practice partner are generated by BandhanOne's own suggestion engine on our servers, from the details in your profile. No outside AI service receives your data.

Suggestions can be imperfect; always read them before using them.

Payments

If you buy an optional paid plan on our website, the payment is processed by our payment partner, Cashfree Payments India Pvt. Ltd., under its own privacy policy and RBI rules. We receive only the payment status, amount, transaction ID and the method type (for example "UPI") — never your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or bank login. Purchases inside the Android app are processed by Google Play. We keep payment records as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Our website

bandhanone.com uses no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics. Our servers keep standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security, for up to 30 days.

Why we use it

To show your profile to suitable members, suggest matches based on the preferences you set, let you chat after mutual interest, confirm that members are real people of legal marriageable age, keep the platform safe (including reviewing reports and messages flagged for possible fraud), and send you service emails you can switch off.

Who can see what

Other members see your profile details and, depending on your photo privacy setting, your photos. Your email, phone, ID and selfie are never shown to other members. We do not sell your data. We use service providers for hosting, email delivery (Brevo) and push notifications (Expo/Google), bound to use it only for us.

Your rights

You can view and correct your data in the app, hide your profile, withdraw consent, and delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account or at https://bandhanone.com/delete-account. Deletion removes your profile, photos, video short, voice recordings, preferences, chats and verification files. We keep your email and any moderation record (for example a ban) so a banned person cannot re-register, and records the law requires us to keep.

Retention

Verification images are deleted when you delete your account. Messages are kept while both members have accounts.

Children

BandhanOne is only for adults of legal marriageable age in India (18 for women, 21 for men). We remove accounts of anyone under that age.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
